Hi! I’m Payton - owner of Bayou Bijoux.

I started Bayou Bijoux in 2020 as a creative outlet from my home in New Orleans. What started as a pandemic jewelry project quickly became a full-time business, but when I moved to New York City, I decided to take a step back from it.

​

Being in a creative place like NYC, I found myself wanting to make jewelry again but this time, with a little more freedom to experiment and create exactly what I love.

​

I’ve always been drawn to things that feel collected rather than perfect- a beautiful shell with an unusual shape, an old necklace that feels like it has a story behind it, or a strand of pearls that looks like could have been pulled from your grandma's closet. I love putting unexpected materials together and seeing what happens.

Because of that, Bayou Bijoux isn’t really a traditional jewelry collection. I find the materials first and make each piece around what makes them special. I work primarily with shells, gemstones, pearls, and vintage finds, and most pieces are completely one of a kind. So that means once a piece is sold- it's gone.

Relaunching Bayou Bijoux feels a little like coming back to where I started — just with a new city and a lot more shells.
